How to Lick a Rainbow

It's raining
And I am a child again

It's raining
And my nose is getting wet because
I am, face upturned to wet sky
Licking raindrops

It's raining
And my feet are wet
Stomp! Splish! Jump!
And now, so is the rest of me

It's raining
And I am eating rainbows
One   drop   at   a   time

The sky wept last night
A gentle sobbing of long ago love
A mother's parting kiss
A babe's newborn puzzzlement -

The sky wept last night
Where has Spring fled?
Whence come these wrinkled hands of time?
What lies ahead?

The sky wept last night
I drank it in
And continued, growing
